Requirements

This program is for students seriously contemplating research careers in the chemical sciences. Students wishing to apply to the program

- must have completed at least two years of undergraduate chemistry

- must be rising juniors or rising seniors, and

- may not have graduated by the start of the program.

Students accepted to the program will

1. Give a 10-minute presentation on the intended research project during the second week of the program.

2. Participate in an intensive 10-week research training involving laboratory work.

3. Attend and participate in weekly informational seminars and workshops.

4. Write the results of their research in journal format and participate in a peer review process.

5. Present the results of their investigation in a poster symposium hosted by an eminent scholar and attended by all members of the Clemson University research community and other industrial and academic guests.

Eligibility

Two types of assistantships are available:

NSF Assistantships - undergraduate students supported with NSF funds in either sites or supplements must be citizens or permanent residents of the US or its possessions.

Departmental Assistantships - both US citizens, US residents and international students on F-1 or J-1 visas currently attending a US institution are eligible.
