John Kaup...
..Chemistry professor John Kaup, faculty advisor of the chapter, deserve special commendation. Few faculty members are willing to make the commitment of time and energy that a successful chapter requires. Their efforts certainly represent the best in undergraduate science education and mentoring around the country. List of award winning chapters will be published in Chemical & Engineering News and in inchemistry, the student magazine. The award winning chapters will also be honored at the 239th ACS National Meeting in San Francisco, CA on Sunday, March 21, 2010.

Dennis Smith...
..Chemistry professor Dennis Smith is the winner of the 2009 Governor's Award for Excellence in Scientific Research. This comes on top of his recent selection as winner of the Charles H. Stone award, given by the ACS Carolina-Piedmont Local Section to the most outstanding chemist in the southeastern United States.

Bill Pennington...
...Chemistry professor Bill Pennington has been recognized by his peers and the Class of 1939 as one of Clemson University’s best.The Class of 1939 Award for Excellence, which includes a $5,000 stipend, was established by that class to recognize faculty members for the highest achievement of service to the student body, the university and the community. The recipient also becomes an honorary member of the class.

Dr. John Huffman...
...received an NIH Research Scientist Award, which runs through the end of 2005. This award is over and above his other current funding. Dr Huffman is a fantastic role model in a senior colleague and the chemistry department should use him as a source of inspiration.
Student Awards
Clemson graduate students win awards for poster presentations
Two Clemson University graduate students were selected as co-winners of the Best Poster award at the 18th Winter Fluorine Conference held Jan 14 - 19 2007 in St Petersbug, Florida. The winners are: Mr. Peter Hallac, who is working on his chemistry PhD under the direction of Prof. Steve Creager with co-direction from Prof. Darryl DesMarteau, and Mr. Scott Iacono, who is working on his chemistry PhD under the direction of Prof. Dennis Smith. Winners were selected at the conference by referees from both industry and academe. The awards were sponsored by Synquest Laboratories in Gainesville, FL, and included a $500 prize for each winning poster. Titles for the winning posters are given below.
